101 REASONS WHY UK IS LEADING GROWTH IN SATELLITE DATA INNOVATION

News  |  03 June, 2026

Space4Climate announces eight new members

Press Release issued 03.06.2026

Eight new members have today [June 3rd] been officially welcomed into Space4Climate, bringing the total to a milestone 101 across industry, policy and academia.

It is growth that reflects Space4Cimate’s increasingly influential role in driving adoption of robust, trusted satellite Earth Observation (EO) technology and derived services.

Donna Lyndsay, Interim Climate Services Development Manager of Space4Climate, made the announcement at GEO Business in London. She was speaking at the start of Space4Climate’s panel on Day 1 of the geospatial event: ‘Orbit to impact: Scaling AI-driven satellite intelligence’.

The full list of new Space4Climate members is:

Donna said: “The range represented by our new members, in size, role and sector is a clear sign of the health of the UK satellite data community and its crucial role in the country’s economy and its international standing, extending across every aspect of our planet.

“By convening the UK’s EO community, from the forefront of research to policy-makers, and providing a growth pathways for businesses, we are promoting space-based data to boost national climate resilience and commercial solutions as well as delivering societal and environmental value.”

The new members will add to the huge breadth and depth of capabilities and expertise across the Space4Climate community. Read what they have to say:

Micky Fallon, Delivery Director of Abaco Group UK:

“Satellite imagery doesn’t just show us fields. It is a key data source to help with improving the future of soil, biodiversity and the food systems that sustain us all. That’s why we’re proud to be part of Space4Climate.”

Dr Wei Yang OBE, CEO of the Digital Task Force for Planning:

“We are delighted to join Space4Climate and look forward to collaborating with its team and members from across industry, academia and government. As the planning sector seeks to deliver sustainable growth and strengthen climate resilience, satellite Earth Observation data has an increasingly important role to play in providing trusted evidence for better decision-making. We look forward to supporting the adoption of Earth Observation data in spatial planning and helping to create more resilient and sustainable places for future generations.”

Peter Moss, CEO of Downforce Technologies:

“Agriculture is a significant contributor to climate change but also at significant risk from climate shocks like drought and flood. The answer lies in a shift away from intensive farming practises that are degrading the world’s soils, to a more sustainable form of farming that regenerates the health and resilience of the soils, reduces the need for chemical fertilisers and sequesters carbon dioxide as organic carbon in the soil. At Downforce we measure and monitor the health of soils and the effectiveness of sustainable farming practises accurately and at scale by combining ground-based data and satellite data. As a UK company, Space4Climate can help reinforce the value and legitimacy of space-enabled data and connect us with users globally.”

Richard Peers, Founder of ResponsibleRisk:

“Space data has altered the landscape, or rather our perspective of it. ResponsibleRisk Ltd is committed to sharing these new insights, with support from Space4Climate.”

Vanessa Balmbra, Business Development Manager, Twinn by Haskoning:

“We are delighted to be joining Space4Climate at such a significant moment for the UK’s EO community. Satellite-derived data is already integral to how Twinn models physical and climate risk, from flood inundation to wildfire and beyond, but there is much more to unlock. This membership gives us a direct line into the conversations shaping the development of space data, and we look forward to both learning from and contributing to that community as we work to deliver more granular, future-proof climate intelligence for our customers.”
