Use our calendar of climate satellite data 2024 events to plan your activities and campaigns. It’s not an exhaustive list and we add more dates as they are confirmed throughout the year. Copernicus Information Days, January 15th and 16th

Entrusted Entities, Users & Services, Woburn House, Tavistock Square, London, WC1H 9HQ, January 15th

The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) event will update UK users of Copernicus data and services, including how the programme has evolved during the time the UK has not been associated to it. Senior officials from DSIT and the European Commission will join, as well as various ‘Entrusted Entities’, including EUMETSAT, ECMWF, Mercator Ocean and representatives from ESA. Copernicus Information Day – Space component, industrial opportunities & procurement, ECSAT, Harwell, January 16th

The UK Space Agency has organised this event with various speakers from the European Space Agency and the European Commission. It will include an overview of the status of Copernicus, information on the Expansion and Next Generation Sentinels, upcoming procurement opportunities and details on specific procurement procedures. This series of events is designed for businesses and financial institutions and delivered by Satellite Applications Catapult with NatWest. It is aimed at Innovators in nature and biodiversity who are developing a product or service revolving around nature and biodiversity; tech enthusiasts leveraging space, satellite data, geospatial data, artificial intelligence, or LLMs in their projects; and Fintech and space tech organisations that want to identify use cases or delve into collaborative opportunities with the financial services sector. Supporting Marine Earth Observation Applications, free online training, February 26th-March 22nd

Learn about, or work more extensively with EUMETSAT’s satellite-derived, ocean colour, sea surface temperature, altimetry, sea ice or wind data. The course will be delivered in partnership with the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) . It is particularly aimed at applicants working in the mid- and high-latitudes, where AWI have extensive experience with both in situ and satellite oceanography. Find out more.

EO Science Strategy Review Workshop, Rome, May 7th-8th

This workshop, the first since ESA’s Independent Science Review in 2021, is described as ‘an important milestone’ in developing their new EO Science Strategy. ESR3 TRUTHS for Climate workshop,  ECSAT, Harwell, June 27th-28th

Plenary talks, posters and topical round tables will offer additional material and:

  • Further develop and prepare the TRUTHS user communities;
  • Inform the community on project status and products;
  • Present latest practices and identify needs in Climate modelling and applications which TRUTHS’ unique observational capabilities can fulfil, directly with its measurements and indirectly by anchoring other missions delivering ECV-products;
  • Discuss intercalibration strategies and priorities to harmonise fundamental and thematic climate data records;
  • Consolidate a holistic views of research areas and tools needed to maximise TRUTHS data benefits for Climate from Day-1;
  • Provide recommendations on the TRUTHS scientific preparation and on practical products access.

Thermal Remote Sensing Workshop, Space Park Leicester, December 2nd-4th

This is aimed at scientists, researchers, public institutions and private companies interested in learning more about thermal remote sensing and making new connections within the community.
