Workshop outcomes – Collaboration Earth report

News  |  10 June, 2025

Collaboration Earth was a collaboration between Space4Climate and Airbus and supported by Airbus’s Community for Space Programme (CUSP).

Fostering deeper understanding of collaboration pathways and opportunities among space and non-space users, including end-users, Collaboration Earth aimed to brainstorm a collection of actions to support emerging climate action needs using Earth Observation data and technology and data innovation.

This workshop, held at the Airbus offices in Stevenage on 14 May, 2025 brought together industry, policy, academia and end-users to identify how data and technology providers can address needs of both private and public sector, while taking advantage of technologies such as AI to effectively address climate and nature issues and support decision-making.

The discussions focused on four topics:

  • The ‘Golden Age’ of EO: End-user opportunities, challenges and requirements for effective earth action Exploring, from an end-user perspective, the opportunities and challenges associated with current and upcoming service offerings for improved climate action decision making.
  • Innovating and doing business with the private sector/ commercial services Focusing on key sectors such as Finance, Energy/Utilities and Agriculture, how can the sector improve its offering and build services to encourage market pull as opposed to market push?
  • Shaping tomorrow’s satellite-based climate and nature services Leveraging technologies such as AI/LLMs (large language models) with new data capabilities from commercial and public satellites, what new emerging climate and nature products could be unlocked for both the public and private sector?
  • Innovating for the public sector and supporting nationwide resilience needs Satellite data and services to enhance public services and strengthen national resilience to climate and environment risks and catastrophes
