With COP30 taking place 7,436km from London in Belem, Brazil, a webinar was held on November 12th, 2025, to provide a practical opportunity for UK audiences to engage with COP30 topics and ambitions relating to climate action evidence from space.
The webinar was co-organised by Space4Climate, National Centre for Earth Observation, Royal Meteorological Society, The Pearl (University of Reading) and UK Space Agency.
A policy-focused webinar was also held, in October, to give valuable insights on UK satellite Earth Observation to the policy team briefing the Government’s COP30 Policy delegates and their supporting colleagues.
The events featured different content and audiences but the common theme was highlighting the expertise, held across science and industry, within the UK to inform and enable climate actions.
Our focus was on Climate Resilience – a national priority for the UK and globally. Climate risks threaten lives, infrastructure, the economy, and national security, with extreme weather, flooding and heatwaves, already costing billions and straining critical infrastructure in the UK, such as transportation, agriculture production, the NHS and our workforce.
Crucial role of satellite data
Building resilience protects vulnerable communities, strengthens food and energy security, and supports the UK’s legal and international climate commitments. Early investment also delivers strong economic returns by reducing long-term damages.
Satellite Earth Observation plays a critical role in this effort, providing accurate, real-time data on weather patterns, land use, flooding, coastal erosion, and carbon emissions helping the UK to monitor risks, design effective adaptation strategies, and track progress towards resilience and net-zero goals.
The key messages of our speakers, insights into cutting-edge science, showcases of real-world climate services in action from Space4Climate members, thoughts on the ground in the COP30 Blue Zone and answers to questions put by the audience, are wrapped up in this post-event downloadable report as a free resource.

We are grateful to the speakers and presenters at both events for allowing us to share their slides. We thank them all for being so generous with their time and for sharing their expertise. Most of all, our thanks go to our audiences for their time in attending and for sharing their thoughts, reactions and questions.
