Space Data For National Resilience – a London Climate Action Week Workshop

Events  |  14 May, 2026

This is an outcomes-focused workshop that is free to join for users and potential users of space-based data applications.

You will meet Space4Climate members from across industry, policy and academia to hear about current and emerging technology, tools and platforms that address real-world challenges of UK resilience and environmental security across all sectors.

Find out more about our members and their expertise.

Workshop agenda

After a networking lunch, the programme will feature an introductory panel of presentations: ‘The role of data from space in resilience solutions today and in the future’.

It will be followed by a number of real-world challenges / problem statements posed by potential end users who want to know whether space-based data applications can offer solutions to urgent resilience and security issues.

Before the event, you will have the chance to choose which breakout session you want to join depending on the challenge / problem statement that best matches your needs or capabilities.

Key insights and ideas for potential next steps will be captured by facilitators and shared back in the main conference room.

After the event a summary report will be shared with all attendees along with invitations to express interest in pursuing one or more potential next steps.

The organisers are leading bodies in UK Earth Observation and the space sector: Space4Climate, UK Space Agency, National Centre for Earth Observation and Space South Central Regional Cluster.

We are grateful to our sponsors, Space4Climate members Planet and venue hosts Henley Business School.

Who should attend?

Whether you are new to satellite data / Earth Observation and its uses or already rely on it for your products or decision-making, you will find valuable insights, make new connections and hear about innovative developments. The workshop is open to decision-makers, sustainability leaders and those tasked with building resilience into their organisations, services and products, whether you are from the public or commercial sector. Academics will be able to link up with stakeholders and new potential end users to demonstrate the effectiveness of their research. Service providers will be able to put forward their products that offer resilience, monitoring and sustainability solutions.

What will you gain?

Participants will take away practical, actionable insights into ways in which Earth Observation data has provided and can provide support to address issues, building resilience and security, and where to find those data and tools. You will feel more confident in exploring how you can access and use data from space and will have new connections to approach for further information. You will have the chance to express interest in taking ideas forwards or in collaborating on solutions whether you are from the academic, commercial or public sector communities.

Venue: Henley Business School

We have secured the prestige venue of the International Capital Market Association (ICMA) Centre, Henley Business School on the Reading University Whiteknights Campus.

More about London Climate Action Week

London Climate Action Week (LCAW) aims to demonstrate the whole of society engagement needed to support the delivery of decarbonisation and resilience as well as stimulate other global cities to host similar events. It takes place each year and runs from June 20-28 this year.

London Climate Action Week (LCAW) was founded in 2019 by E3G in partnership with the Mayor of London. It is the largest city-wide climate festival in Europe and one of the world’s largest independent climate change events.  Its mission is to harness the unique power of London for global and local climate action. It mobilises London’s unparalleled ecosystem of climate and non-climate organisations to accelerate global climate action and supports action in London to ensure it acts as a global climate leader.

The 2026 edition (June 20-28) focuses on four themes:

      1. Building, investing and innovating the clean economy
      2. Understanding climate risk and building resilience
      3. Regenerating nature and oceans
      4. Mobilising whole-of-society climate action

London Climate Action Week showcases London and beyond as a leading example of how the whole of society can come together to shape and drive climate action.

 E3G

LCAW was developed and is hosted by E3G, an independent climate change think tank accelerating the transition to a climate safe world. E3G specialises in climate diplomacy, climate risk, energy policy and climate finance.
