Space in support of climate public policies: From diplomacy to action

Join us when UK Space Agency, Space4Climate and Centre National d’Études Spatiales, the French space agency, co-host the opening session of the online Space for Climate Observatory (SCO) inaugural event on November 16, 12-1.30pm:
Space in support of climate public policies: from diplomacy to action. Can space contribute to public climate policies and support their implementation?

  • Gain insights into using Earth Observation to build resilience at national, inter-regional and international levels.
  • Discover first-hand how emerging data is being used to plan for the impacts of the super El Nino.
  • Hear from speakers from science, policy and industry.
  • Explore how space data and technologies inform decision-making processes, from international commitments to concrete territorial action.
  • Learn from operational projects that translate space data into tangible climate action.

Global climate initiatives set ambitious goals for mitigation, adaptation and resilience. But how do we turn these commitments into concrete action? How can international cooperation, climate diplomacy and space-based Earth Observation work together to support better decisions and more effective public policies?

This is the opening session of a week of SCO World Virtual Congress events, a ground-breaking new, fully online, global event and enables you to discuss COP31 themes with experts from around the world without travelling to Türkiye. The programme aligns with COP’s objectives: uniting climate stakeholders, sharing concrete solutions, and accelerating collective action.

By joining you will grasp the current state of international climate diplomacy and the key challenges being negotiated at COP31, explore regional space‑climate strategies worldwide, and assess how space‑based data can shape public‑policy design and implementation.
