Space4Climate PufferTouch App 2.0
The new version of the Space4Climate App took centre stage on our stand in the first ever COP Space Pavilion in Dubai from November 30th to December 12th, 2023.
With more than 30 climate datasets and 36 case studies of our members’ climate services and products in action around the world, the S4C App provided the 800+ visitors to our stand at COP28 with inspiring examples of UK expertise.
The S4C App plays on the interactive display globe, PufferTouch, from our members, Pufferfish Displays. It engagingly illustrates the climate data from space value chain through captivating climate data sets and impactful case studies. Viewers can choose the areas of climate research, monitoring and action that they are most interested in, just by touching one of the theme buttons. Information is presented in layperson’s language with QR code links and signposts to more in depth details. Using arrows and location buttons, visitors can follow the path from the global climate data sets to applications that are underpinned by them in various parts of the world.
In addition, satellites orbit around the globe, including upcoming missions TRUTHS, Biomass and MicroCarb. Touching each satellite opens up information about the mission, the collaborators building and testing the instruments, and the impact it will have on our ability to monitor and address climate change.the The S4C App also featured at the Royal Institute lecture by the National Physical Laboratory in January 2024.
