Space4Climate – your gateway to UK satellite Earth Observation expertise
Space4Climate represents the UK satellite Earth Observation community, as a non-commercial organisation currently comprising 90 members, the majority from industry, ranging from large corporations with expertise, SMEs and start-ups, to micro consultancies in Earth Observation and satellite climate services.
Founded in 2014, our role is to united UK expertise and capabilities in industry, academia and policy, to harness and strengthen satellite and climate technology for Earth and climate action.
Here to work with you
Our members collaborate to sustain and make use of trusted climate data from space; helping to identify end-user requirements and facilitate the development of trusted climate services development to meet these, promoting national and global economic and societal benefit.
More specifically, our members have consistently demonstrated effective collaborations between research and applications that have accelerated climate action ambitions for implementation and impact, including societal and economic benefit.
On this page you can find:
- A wide range of UK-led case studies, searchable by theme/sector, from around the world, showcasing UK capabilities, including a comprehensive information on climate data and applications providers and services in the UK
- Links to Space4Climate members, including businesses, research organisations, Universities and funding bodies
- Key sources of information for UK-built research, tools and climate data products, many of which are Open Access
- Clear signposts and contact points for the many UK organisations waiting to guide you to making the most of the expertise on offer
- What’s on and when in the UK Pavilion in the Blue Zone at COP30: The Department of Business and Trade is hosting the UK Pavilion, with daily themes and a full programme of events. You can watch live on YouTube.
Behind the showreel
If you visit the COP30 UK Pavilion, the chances are you will see our COP30 showreel. It opens with the important relationship between Space and Earth and the critical role satellites play as the backbone of climate intelligence. This is then brought into the perspective of UK national capabilities. The reel demonstrates how Space4Climate members collaborate to sustain and make use of trusted climate data from space; and facilitate the development of trusted climate services to meet these, promoting national and global economic and social benefit.
Watch the Space4Climate CO30 showreel – created to engage visitors to the UK Pavilion in Belem with UK Earth Observation and climate opportunities. You can also watch showreels from our members Environment Systems, Gentian, PML, Sylvera and University of Surrey (Space4Nature).
The showreel highlights how strong UK Government support (infrastructure investment and funding), research and industry innovation by our members tackle urgent climate issues and strengthen climate resilience. Through the thriving satellite Earth Observation community, climate action is working in the UK, leading to strong enabling environments that create jobs, generate economic growth and inspire the next generation of climate innovators – presenting a strong and engaging case to COP30 Blue Zone audiences, including world leaders and decision-makers.
Space4Climate welcomes you to make the UK a destination of choice for climate action collaboration across research and commercial innovation.

Continuous development in Earth Observation technologies is making climate data accessible to many users in government, industry and academia. This drives innovation of digital climate applications available to key economic and social sectors, such as agriculture, finance, nature and land use, oceans, recovery and peace.
Space4Climate members are continuously developing and improving tools and applications that have a global reach; helping organisations, governments and communities to address urgent climate challenges and develop relevant climate services.
Check out our library of UK-conceived global satellite EO data applications for examples of how Earth Observation data can be applied for local and national climate action.
What you need to know about the UK EO Community
The thriving UK space sector is home to more than 1,700 organisations, supporting over 10,000 jobs in the space and Earth Observation-related services sector.
Over the years, UK’s investment in Earth Observation has significantly improved capabilities in the country, supporting the economy and national development.
In 2024, the £100million UK National Satellite Test Facility was opened, improving technical capabilities to support satellite missions, including those involved in Earth Observation. This benefits sectors that rely on satellite services that represent 18% of the total UK GDP.
More specifically, the Earth Observation sector, both upstream and downstream, contributes about £1billion in income. Continued investment will only strengthen the UK’s satellite Earth Observation capability, transforming science and technology to improved climate resilience across society and economy.
