Drawing expertise from across the Space4Climate group to explore how best climate satellite data can help the green finance sector make climate informed decisions.
Purpose
This is a technical group with a focus on the fast-developing requirements of the financial industry in relation to climate and nature risk assessments and disclosures. It draws on the expertise and input of the wider Space4Climate community and builds links with the financial industry to provide technical guidance on sources of reliable, trusted data and transparent metrics that can be compared to provide robust information on the emissions organisations disclose and on the physical impacts changes in climate and nature can have on organisations’ operations.
Objectives
- Support the financial sector with climate- and nature-related financial disclosures through the provision of high-quality Earth Observation (EO), climate and nature data and indicators
- Develop demonstrations of what the Task Group can provide to the financial sector
- Engage financial sector organisations and intermediaries to connect them with Task Group members
