Space4Climate will be on stand L320 at Reset Connect, which takes place at ExCeL, London, June 27th-28th as a flagship event during London Climate Action Week. We will be showing the interactive Space4Climate App on the PufferTouch display, featuring members’ case studies demonstrating the impact of UK satellite data applications around the world.

UK Earth Observation for climate

Over the last 50 years, satellites have revolutionised our understanding of the planet. Using a variety of cameras and sensors, Earth Observation satellites measure the Earth’s weather, forests, oceans, ice sheets and more.

From space, satellites have a wide field of view. Alongside validation measurements on the ground, they can provide a comprehensive picture of large areas of the planet and how these areas change over time. Examples include monitoring of the state and evolution of our environment, be it land, sea or air, and the ability to rapidly assess situations during crises such as extreme weather events or during times of human conflict.

The space sector is uniquely placed to aid progress across all these areas — especially in driving the adoption of innovative tools to inform climate-based decision-making. Space technologies can also track emission levels as countries move toward their mid-century targets, helping to hold governments and industries to account. To limit warming to 1.5 C, the world must lower carbon dioxide emissions by 45% by 2030 and data insights must drive action toward significant reductions. Close collaboration with the space sector will be key in enabling scalable, impactful solutions.

Climate data for energy, finance & risk decisions

Krupa is looking forward to building new connections at Reset Connect and says: “Our message to the exhibition audience of professionals from finance institutions, the energy sector and insurance / risk industry will be that UK Earth Observation data, expertise and climate products has a wide range of innovative applications and our members are ready to help them. Satellite-based services are no longer hard to get or mystical but very much commercially ready and available for organisations to adopt. We are looking forward to communicating the value of satellite climate applications and encouraging the use of the same across industries.”

Registration for Reset Connect is free, so come along and find out how our members can help you to meet your Net Zero targets, provide state-of the-art climate data for your customers and collaborate with our members to create new products for better informed climate decision-making.
