Space4Climate services directory development – open opportunity

News  |  14 March, 2022

Space4Climate is seeking a contractor to develop an online directory of UK providers of Earth Observation (EO) climate data-based services to be launched later this year.

The directory will provide a single-entry point for those who are taking climate action decisions or advising on informed climate action. It will profile UK-based expertise across academia, government, industry and the third sector, from individuals to organisations, with expertise in producing and exploiting climate data from space.

Content is being developed by Space4Climate, which represents the UK climate Earth Observation community. The aim is to promote the UK’s world-leading capability in designing, exploiting and quality assurance of services derived from space-based climate data. It will be an important  source of reliable information on the capabilities of UK-based service providers, meta-data descriptions of and case study examples of new types of sensors, missions, datasets and applications.

Those accessing the Space4Climate Services Directory will be able to:

  • Find out which UK suppliers can provide data, services and expertise to help with challenges
  • Find the different kinds of data and services that are available
  • Understand how EO climate data can help with different kinds of challenges.

Sabrina Alam, Space4Climate Technical Development Manager, is leading the directory. She says:

“The Space4Climate Services Directory is an incredible opportunity to showcase UK capabilities for climate and Earth Observation data, providers, careers and much more. It will provide a central platform for all to access and utilise, so we invite you to work with us to create such a powerful tool.”

Donna Lyndsay, Vice-Chair of Space4Climate adds: “The UK has some incredible climate and Earth Observation capabilities, and this is our opportunity to make sure the world understands the breadth and depth of this knowledge and our ability to deliver the insights we need for a sustainable world.”

The proposed selection timetable is:

  • Bid submission deadline: 10:00, 4 April
  • Proposal presentation (by invitation): by arrangement
  • Bid outcome notification: w/c 11  April 2022
  • Contract start date: w/c 11  April 2022
